- Did TenCent really buy shares? - According to reddit’s wikipedia page, Tencent owns about 5% of reddit. - Even if its 5%, is a lot
- That’s 5% too much. - Enough that anti-ccp posts seemed to be less frequent. Who knows what vote fuzzing was going on. - I just know that the same users who were dismissing my concerns are happily consuming their meme on nureddit.

- Not recently, it was in 2019. https://www.thestreet.com/technology/tencent-invests-150-million-in-reddit-14863248 - Thank you for taking the time to share the article ❤️

- Yea, around 5 yrs ago. - Everything they touch becomes a money grab. Unpopular opinion but I enjoy mobile gaming and when I see TenCent I become extremely cynical.

- Shares in private businesses are private business, even when said shares have discounts that are only available under certain conditions. It’s all a out what they initially declare, and the assumption is that they’re honest. - You didn’t think the plebs could get <20% interest rates, did you?

- I read posts from people saying “deleted my X year old account today”. - Like, am I the only one who had multiple accounts? lmfao - They can’t be bots, right? Good.

- That’s not how this meme works, but I get what you’re throwing down.
- Ah yeah. I forgot about that. - Thanks to this I got to join Lemmy, so I’m thankful for the extremely poor management of Reddit ❤️
