  • I don’t really relate as I typically linger two or more years behind the cutting edge games and tech so by the time I get it my hardware can easily run it and I can actually just install the game and play.

That and all tge good games float to the top of the pile in that time so I rarely end up spending money on something I don’t enjoy.

  • The sheer power of forklifts is unbelievable. Consider what we’re looking at for a moment. That was likely an ~8000lb lift going ~ 5mph that did this. A blunt metal fork straight through a steel beam. The absolute danger of a careless driver on a forklift is rarely understood.

I loved being a forklift trainer but the stupid shit the other trainers got away with when teaching people was unreal. No appreciation for the magnitude of the responsibility of driving those machines. The trainees suffered for it. Fucking human wrecking balls driving around the warehouse.

  • I suffered with what I thought was IBS for the last ~10 years. 4+ liquid shits per day with complete unpredictability.

Turns out coffee was the problem.

I switched to tea two weeks ago and I’m down to 2 normal and predictable shits per day. I’ve also gained a few pounds because I’m not so dehydrated anymore. That’s a good thing for me.

  • Fair enough.

For me personally, I love having technology from right before the explosion of Bluetooth integration. For example, I have stereo receivers and other sets of speakers that require that 3.5mm jack for input. Not having that jack on my current phone (Pixel 8) has made it more annoying to use these devices. Also, I still have an iPod Classic that I used to use exclusively in the car but now I have to carry it around more so it can be used with my old stereos.

Also, I can’t stand the bluetooth latency; especially in the car. If I’m parked having lunch somewhere, I can’t watch a video without a terrible audio desync.

I still value the 3.5mm jack.

  • Of all the current media subscription services, this is the one I have no issue paying for. The service I get for the money I pay is appropriate. I’ve taken my own measures to limit the amount of PII that Google can vacuum up from my life as well. I’m fine with them knowing what I like to watch and providing algorithmic recommendations for new content. I police said algorithm aggressively to ensure its always on topic and never trying to show me ragebait or shit I don’t want to see.

When the day comes that the cost outweighs the return I’ll stop paying for it and use Grayjay or Newpipe or whatever other option there is. If its a full on dystopia by then, well y’know what? I don’t need Youtube to survive. I’ll be fine without it.
