Probably too far-fetched, but curious anyway since this would make things a lot easier.

Recently got a modded Switch with a chip and it’s got custom software with this Tinfoil app on it, and I was wondering if it could be possible to somehow stream to Twitch/YouTube directly, without a capture card, using an app that would work only with a modded version of the console.

You can unlock the browser and maybe do it that way. If you just want YouTube, the switch has a YouTube app, no need for homebrew there.

If you want to go full out, you can install a second OS like GNU/Linux or Android and stream with that OS.

That’s definitely going to make the Switch struggle to maintain its framerate.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. The Switch records a 720p30 video all the time for its 30s replay functionality that is on by default.

At least theoretically, capture and encoding themselves shouldn’t cause any more performance issues than a stock Switch already has (unless you try to stream and have the replay buffer ofc.) and sending a bunch of video data over a network isn’t very intensive.

Just Google “stream to YouTube from switch” there’s a built in option. Here’s a screencap of the top result.

I don’t think that what you want exists. The best I can offer is SysDVR, which streams video to a PC and from there you could livestream that.

Alternatively, you could try your luck asking on GBAtemp and see what they know.
