Yeah this absolutely sucks. Ive suspected a large number of “cause” emails are spam, but it’s good to have some data.

To be clear, this doesn’t apply to donations made directly to candidates via Act Blue, but rather the broader democratic fundraising apparatus. Those donations go directly to the candidates minus the transaction fees. Don’t donate to panicky causes unless you are very familiar with the organization.
