I’m not ragging on this particular post - this one’s obviously important - but I’ll be honest, I really wish I could spend less time hearing about what Trump is doing and more time hearing about what’s being done about it.
Getting constant doom-o-grams about the current administration’s latest horror-show is particularly exhausting when you almost never hear about people working to fix it, and frankly I doubt I’m alone in that. It’s pretty counterproductive for us to be spending so much time fixating on what the fascists are doing. Helps them a lot more than us.
I just wish this site had a healthier evil-to-good-news mix, you know? Prevents doomerism.

My problem is I WANT to fight back. But I don’t know where to go as many of the orgs are lawyers, consumer rights, or environmental. I’m an academic who fled and desperately want to do something - form a research institute or think tank that helps inform. Where to start, though…
Yeah I totally feel this. I’m constantly really exhausted and often feeling really hopeless. Fwiw I only posted this particular one as I’m in Seattle and it being this close to home is very alarming to me. I try not to post much to these communities.

No shade, I would mute or unsub from the Politics community in that case; there really hasn’t been much good news on the Politics front domestically in the US. That’s not Doomerism, it’s just the honest situation we’re in.
We had a good number of articles recently about countries recognizing Palestine, at least, which is where I’ve been getting my hope from.
We have a no kings protest coming up. I wonder if we’ll be under martial law by then.

There was an internal DHS investigation into intelligence abuses and unlawful arrests committed during Trump’s last tangle with his imaginary terrorist organization in Portland: Homeland Security Admits It Tried to Manufacture Fake Terrorists for Trump. Portland police say that the feds have been attempting to instigate confrontations for a while now already.
