AMD has been pure bliss for me. ~3 years ago, when I distrohopped my 3080 TI sucked on every distro.
i just got my first amd/ati hardware and it was nice not having to take an extra step to reviewi/set-up better nvidia support; the best available was automatically provided like the article says.
With the great upstream support for AMD Radeon graphics in the Linux kernel and Mesa, most desktop users / gamers / enthusiasts are best off just using the latest code shipped by their distributions
it got so bad for me in the past, that i just avoided nvidia the last 2 times i bought hardware.
I’ve just been avoiding nvidia the last couple of times I bought a GPU because they were so goddamn expensive, lol. It is just super convenient that this coincided with me starting to game on Linux.
Games used to hold me back also but sometime around 2005, I stopped updating my repetior and now even dirt cheap gpu’s have caught up w my needs; my last 2 laptops and desktop had Intel integrated graphics on the motherboard
