Okay I know Germany’s been struggling as of late, but I had plans to flee the US and go there for a time.
And now I’m thinking that isn’t a great idea. Like, out of the frying pan into the fire?

Because if another consumer imports it you don’t want it running the main method
I learned this a few years ago, I started taking half the day off because I was remote and they couldn’t tell.
And then I thought…what if I just fill that time with another job? So I picked up a 2nd…and then a 3rd.
None of them have given raises to employees in years now because “they can’t afford it” or “milestones weren’t hit”. And that sucks, but I use it to further justify my actions.
To be clear, I never let the team down and I always meet or exceed expectations performance review wise. So I really have zero guilt over this. These particular companies also grossly under pay for the industry so they kind of know that they wouldn’t be able to find anyone without paying far more.
Not historically, no. Were my taxes always used properly? Probably not, but I believed in the overall system generically.
But since Trump’s second term I’ve cut back significantly on Federal taxes I pay (I still pay State). I’ve converted some FTE-related income to 1099 and ceased paying quarterly and I’ve claimed 10+ allowances on W4 income to reduce taxes withheld.
I’m on a payment plan of $250/mo with the IRS and they most recently told me to just keep paying monthly as best I can.
Thing is, I owe far, far, far more than 100x that. So I guess they’ll just never get all their money. I don’t care.
Yes, that’s actually better than most.
I was in the same boat about…3mos ago. But recent tooling is kind of making me rethink things. And to be honest I’m kind of surprised. I’m fairly anti-AI.
Is it perfect? Fuck no. But with the right prompts and gates, I’m genuinely surprised. Yes, I still have to tweak, but we’re talking entire features being 80% stubbed in sub 1 minute. More if I want it to test and iterate.
My major concern is the people doing this and not reviewing the code and shipping it. Because it definitely needs massaging…ESPECIALLY for security reasons.
I’m dubious ChatGPT was any better considering it backs Copilot. I’ve found ChatGPT to be pretty much garbage versus Anthropic’s Claude. Curious about your experience though.
Yes but also I’ve just put electrical tape over many an item.
The RGB craze is the worst.
That’s so awesome. Congrats!
Thank you!
I’m new to this because this just popped up on my feed. But I’ve been wanting to get into some gardening and have a handful of pallets…any recommended reads?
It’s not even viable for me. I simply cannot use Linux daily because all my jobs require software that doesn’t have a Linux version, or it does but it’s lacking necessary features, or there’s an alternative but I have to burn extra hours making it work with their systems/setup - hours I don’t have.
Or I have to use internally configured Remote Desktop profiles over a VPN (not to be confused with RDP), and you can’t do that specific use case on Linux because it requires using the company’s internal Windows Store with specific Remote Desktop installation.
Or I have to use a specific Outlook instance, locally installed, because somehow they’ve blocked web access (I still haven’t figured out exactly how they set this up).
After a 12 hour day, sure, I can switch back to my dual boot Linux instance and spend 1-2 hours for personal use. But the ratio is still Windows-leaning no matter how you slice it.
Where I live it’s $150 to register a business, so I guess add whatever lawyer fees you might need but otherwise it doesn’t seem like it should be too hard.
Anyone know the intricacies of how to do this? I’m down to try.
Cuts and such heal WAYYYYY more slowly.
I also seem to bruise easier.
Or a large chunk of politicians with guinea pigs - they’d probably do more…or in some cases they’d do less which would be a positive thing.
Alright, this wins the Internet for the day. This is hilarious and amazing.
Yeah, I’ve heard that when I leave the US that you can even be fined for such behavior in some countries.
But oh well, I’ll milk it while I can.
