It’s rock solid and the desktop is very close to what people coming from Windows would expect. It’s just a very good beginner distro, not necessarily something that more advanced users would choose.

Ironic, the fact that I hate change is the whole reason I ended up using Linux. I felt that Mint was closer to Windows 7 than 8.0 at the time.
Mafia 1. Not only is it still one of the best single player storylines, it’s also how I “met” my best friend. My family had just moved between cities and I had to change schools. I obviously didn’t know anybody yet and joining a class with existing social circles can be hard. The first common ground I found with someone was this game, as we both had played it and struggled with the same mission (“The Race” iykyk). We hung out after school trying to beat this game together. This is essentially how our 15+ year long friendship began.
I also really got into classic cars because of the game and my future hobbies and career would most likely have been very different had I not played it.
Since you’re on KDE, plasma-systemmonitor should already be installed. It is the closest to the Windows task manager that you’re probably familiar with.
He just claimed it was a bad connection. It definitely wasn’t if you watched the stream. What makes this even funnier is that it was supposed to be a demonstration for Starlink and he ended up shitting on it because he couldn’t handle the defeat.
When our opponents say: “Yes, we used to grant you freedom of opinion”, yes. You did, that is no reason why we should do the same to you! Your stupidity need not be contagious to us! [Laughter.] That you have given this to us - that is proof of how stupid you are! [Laughter.]
Imagine getting butt dialed by Kim Jong Un
Meanwhile the center console has multiple blank place holders where physical buttons could be installed, and my car has all the options
I hate this trend so much. Even modern “luxury” vehicles have these blank spaces like they are some economy car from the 90s. God forbid they’d have to spend a few bucks extra for panels that match the actual options.
the car is a heavily modified Peel P50,
Shit, you got me.
It’s hit or miss. There are cars that are look tiny on the outside but provide enough room even for people taller than me. Then there are large ones that seemingly offer enough space, but have things like backrests that are too short or have steering wheels that are too low.
The backrests are honestly the biggest problem, because they are shaped for the average person’s back. When you’re too tall, they put pressure on the wrong spots and cause back pain after a few hours. The tricky thing is that it’s not immediately noticeable on a test drive, so you might be stuck with it after making the purchase.
Most cars that I’ve fit in were ones where you’re driving in a sort of reclined position, because you can counter the short backrest by sliding down in the seat a little. Or 80s limos with a sofa-like feel.
Yeah, it’s the electronic stability control.
It’s a 2012 Lexus IS 250 C
Yeah, the earlier ones have a toggle switch on the side of the dash that apparently takes a bit to get used to. The non-adjustable steering wheel is pretty huge in all the models, so that will most likely be the limiting factor. But you’re right, I should probably find one to try sitting in before I intensify my search. Thanks for the heads up!
There’s no way you just mentioned the Citroen BX. Crazy coincidence. I’ve actually been looking to buy one for a couple of months (the early model with the cool instrument panel) but I’ve never actually sat in one. And I’m just now finding out that it’s too small??
Thanks, that’s nice of you to say! This one is fortunately not mine, it belongs to someone in my family and I just drive it occasionally. In my own car the seat goes so far back that I can barely touch the pedals even with outstretched legs. And there are no annoying buttons to be pressed by accident :D
Tall gang 🤝
But to be fair, I’ve driven plenty of compact cars that were very comfortable and fitting for my size.
Where’d you get this footage of me??
The steering column only moves in position when I turn the ignition on. Getting in is fine, just a bit of a squeeze.
The Nvidia issue is overblown IMO. Yes, it used to be petty bad a couple of years ago with bugs and glitches all over the place, especially with Wayland. These days not so much. Just use the proprietary Nvidia drivers and you will have a solid experience. It’s honestly been over a year since I last had an issue that I could narrow down to Nvidia hardware.
Just make sure to read some reports from people with the same model of laptop. Laptops with very specific hardware can have compatibility issues.
