I’m looking for something to display briefly with the current song info when I make an adjustment, without having to click into anything.

Edit: I’m back home and looking at this now. Yeah, the info I want is in the volume slider when I click. I want this to briefly appear in an overlay when I, say, change the volume so that I can quickly address my curiosity when playing a video game, for example.

Is there something that does this? A song is currently playing, and this is all I get when changing volume.

Windows gives something closer to what is in the volume setting in the taskbar after clicking on it.

I run Mint and the touchscreen and pen both work. I haven’t tried anything with the web cam to confirm or deny that one.

The system programs let you scroll on the touch screen (looking through the app store for example) but, frustratingly, Firefox doesn’t support this. I haven’t looked too hard for an alternative or work around though.

I think what bothers him is that he had something that he liked and can no longer find. It may not be the case here, but companies (in the US) are en masse changing their recipes to be cheaper to manufacture and it’s affecting the end product.

In the case of something like a cookie which can be made 1000 different ways by 1000 different companies, finding what you like took time, luck, or both. When they change the recipe on you, it’s not a simple, “just buy a different cookie, dummy.” It’s a major undertaking. Sometimes you get lucky and this was the push that allowed you to discover a new, even better, favorite. More often than not though, it’s just another part of your day that got a little bit shittier than it was yesterday.

It’s annoying and I totally get it.

My car offered a remote start on the key fob and even the dealer told me not to buy it because the range was so short. I ended up installing an after market Viper system that is cellular and costs ~$100 per year when I get 3 years at a time. So even the after market solutions have subscriptions. If you need a cell connection you have to pay for it

Yeah this is pretty much it. When it first happened to me I had no idea and just wrote it off as a glitch. Then it happened again or the Plex servers were out so everyone was talking about it. There should never be a reason for your home media server to need access beyond the local LAN.

The biggest problem with Plex (I’m a user) is that you need a network connection just to use it with your local media unless you do a little research to figure out how to bypass this. Why is this a problem? You don’t notice it until there’s a network outage and you want to watch something. Or if the Plex servers are glitching. It’s needlessly complicating the process of watching your media.
