I found a real easy approach to any undesired solicitation - zero contact, no reaction. Works on telemarketers, panhandlers, salespeople etc.
I have no shame about ghosting you publicly when the only thing you’re after is my money. If I’m in the home generator store, sure thing bro talk to me about my home power needs. If I’m walking out the supermarket and you slide around a booth to “help me keep my home safe during unrest” nah fam you can fuck yourself.
Cold open sales is parallel to pick-up “artists” imo. You want the transactional outcome for yourself, and my consent is the only thing you’re concerned about taking care of.
By rejecting materialism and embracing anti-materialism you are freed from the shackles of the physical constructs around us, able to shape and bend your environment- even from a long distance.
The individual practice is relatively new, starting in the mid 1910s but it blossomed and has ardent support in multiple nations with different styles expressed. Russians lean towards simplicity and utilitarianism, the American practice trends avant-garde, while the Chinese largely iterate on existing foundations.
Until we achieve a revolutionary advancement in science, anti-materialism is here to stay, and not just because of knee-jerk Luddite sentiment, but because of the unique effects it has on our world and others.
It’s a naked dog whistle, and I’m not sure why the corpo press didn’t see right through it. It’s not the 1950s with ‘obscenity’ trials, the speech that is controversial nowadays is hate speech.
The state of Twitter nowadays confirms exactly the kind of people Musk was thinking about when he said that.
Omg but have you heard the Australian R18 announcer?!?! SO POWERFUL and yet derivative of the groundbreaking ESRB M rating
In terms of macroeconomic tools like quantitive easing and LIBOR rates, yes the big tools are outside the Chancellors control.
What Whitehall can do is increase the government’s supply of money to the economy as a whole by deficit spending to stimulate commerce. Build some overdue infrastructure, increase universal credit payouts, raises for teachers or firefighters, government backed low cost loans for developing industries/councils, etc are tools that are available
Think globally, act locally
I don’t think you’re evil, but this attitude is part of the problem that enables terrible people to get away with horrific acts. “Why didn’t the Germans stop the holocaust?” can be explained a lot of ways, but complicity and silence feature throughout the answers, along with the ghouls who encouraged it
For a while I did exactly as you are doing. I was super involved in tracking and witnessing police abuses and misconduct, watching the drip-drip-drip while the country sat idle - and you’re right, it’s super depressing to see an obvious issue and be unable to change it. I did step away for a while when it got overwhelming, but me ignoring a problem, simply permits those abuses to continue without criticism or exposure.
I have the social, geographic and ethnic privilege to not be routinely affected negatively by the issues in the world, but I refuse to turn that to mute complicity
So you instead choose silent complicity with injustice and evil? I can’t change geopolitics sure, but at the very least you can bear witness and raise your voice to make others aware. And then somebody else who sees that issue, might have the power to change something.
If we all said “Damn that sucks for George Floyd, but police unions and politicians are big and scawy institutions- let’s do absolutely fucking nothing and go on with our lives” that is moral bankruptcy.
Stop digging and admit you don’t care about others dude, there’s no good way out of this hole you built
Behold, the unconscious class, pontificating about inner peace and enlightenment from their ivory tower of unearned privilege and willful ignorance
Oh that’s a different thing 😉 You should be already able to see the armor in the cage iirc
The end game armor you unlock is good… but it is walled off until the very end game when you’re otherwise super geared up, so it’s not the ‘epic purple loot’ it seems like
The Flying Dutchman fight is hella bullshit though, I swear that thing was midair and turned 180 on the spot multiple times. Made lining up broadsides annoying af when a man-o-war is nimble and tough
That was the best part for me lol - open world piracy simulator with your crew belting out sea shanties and upgrading your ship. The on foot parts of the AC franchise might as well be on train tracks, not my jam
If you’re not enjoying your time at sea, on the ship itself, I’d recommend powering through the quest line, possibly the legendary ship battles and leave it there.
I stopped trying to 100% after AC2, and sped through the ‘housekeeping’ pre-assassination missions. Follow this guy, loot this chest, pick her pocket, etc gets real old quick
It’s not a solution tho. Shipping containers are designed to hold freight not people.
Good ol’ green boots - even in death you can serve as a trail marker 👍
Always will be
Yes, but it’s not really common knowledge. People may recognize that if you’re talking about egg prices last year for instance, but then don’t bat at $400 concert tickets, or TV shows that spin plotlines to increase ad time, or the state of higher education as sports franchises first and foremost to sell merchandise
The warning signs were there in 2008 and Trump saw that undercurrent. He’s leaning full force, this is undeniably now mask off with the rhetoric.
He’s also consistently far and away leading the Republican primary polling, even if he was convicted. The general election data isn’t a slam dunk for democracy either.
I love these false economies that some corporate bean counter thinks saves the company money
Because you see, whenever I see this trash in a cubicle, I lovingly build my own 8-ply, using more paper and burning company time
Correct. Dress it up however you like, but LLM and ML programs are probability gamblers all the way down. We’re building a conversation tool, that doesn’t truly comprehend the language because it’s a calculator at its core - it’s like asking your eyeballs to see in UHF frequencies.
They’re called “computers” for a reason, and we are deep in the myopic tech tree of further and further complexity. The current wave of AI has solid potential, but not globally for all applications. It is a great at ‘digital assistant’ roles and is already killing it in CCTV monitoring software. Mindjourney can make incredible images, but it can’t make art. ChatGPT can write, but it’s a terrible author or speechwriter.
