  • The last administration didnt try to gut NSF science funding, nasa, our Healthcare, social security, or any of the other dumb crap in the reconciliation bill just passed. If you seriously think the Biden administration was bad, you didnt pay attention. My job, my colleagues jobs are on the line, my partner might lose all funding for her job, my friends are losing their jobs, PBS and NPR facing funding cuts. My grandfather, my uncle, my step father, all potentially losing their disability, social security, etc. People trying to strip us of citizenship, this shit is not normal. The fact that you are trying to equate the two administration’s is fucking disingenuous as fuck.

  • No, its the boomers still. They created the news networks like Fox News, turned the internet into the cess pool that it is, and drove all of the propaganda that has turned millennial and gen X people into frothing right-wing nut jobs. Maybe in ten years, we can stop saying its the boomers. But they have single handedly been responsible for all of the shit we find ourselves in, the housing bubbles, the student loan crisis, everything. I’ll stop saying its the boomers when its no longer a problem of their generations making.

  • I dont even know what SDE means, and I am an engineer who works on software. Never got a CS degree, but I took one or two programming classes in college. I definitely couldn’t tell you what an IT person does. Did look into a CS masters once and decided I had no interest whatsoever in doing algorithm development research of any kind, or any research related to compilers, or any of that junk. It was too niche for me. Anyway, dunno what the point of this comment was supposed to be. I guess what im saying is, yes, I agree, the “need to go to college” thing is overrated. We need to teach kids there are a lot of paths to take, and not all of them leave you with crushing debt.
