  • I agree about the liability part. My interest was piqued during the so called Twitter files, when reporting was something like the bosses of twitter, Facebook and Wikipedia sat in a weekly (or was it monthly?) meeting, where they were told what controversial topics to “tamp down” on. I found it very weird, especially since I cannot imagine how one “tamps down” on a wikipedia article?

I think the much harder part is how would you go about democratising a website?

  • I’ll tell you a story. In the Nazi Years my great-uncle was in the upper echelon of the German Reich. As in, he should have been in Nuremberg. And should have been hanged. He escaped judgement day with lies. “I’m just very conservative. What else could a conservative who loves his country have done. There was no alternative to beeing a Nazi. I am just a conservative.”

Well. It was a lie. After the war he went right back to where he was and was an active Nazi right til the day he died. That despicable cunt loved, absolutely loved deception. He always had an explanation ready why the things he did weren’t Nazi things.

This whole spiel just for lulz, nihilism or internet points smells like the same deception my uncle used.

Especially if you see who applauds and supports these assholes.

  • I’ve used Mac keyboard layout successfully on Linux. “Input Remapper” for one beligerent key that refused to work otherwise.

I did not remap command and Ctrl keys, is that what you are referring to? I found learning the DE- keymappings helped me navigate the different DEs better (I used GNOME and KDE) and it was less error prone since some apps would hardcode some keys that were nonesensical as Mac layout.

  • That is so good and satisfying to hear.

I’m also currently almost exclusively on Linux. My Spouse has a Fedora powered Notebook with a super fast 8/16 core amd processor and loves it dearly. (Cannot remember the maker, but since the BIOS/setup was huge PITA I wont be buying from them again.) I used to love the simplicity and light-weighted -ness of apples setup, but over the years Linux systems made it far easier to use them as a “digital hub”. Turns out I did not enjoy selling my soul to Satan (Oracle Virtualbox) or pay an extra 100 bucks per year (Corel Parallels) just so I could use a few windows only tools I had.
