I know some of the SC story from knudsens channel, but somehow it never really hit me that they are developing a spin-off of a game that hasnt even released yet

this was my experience as well. took me like 6 tries to do the first mission on normal. then all the others i did first try (although not exactly optimal).
a few months later i did the first mission on hard - first try.
its almost a bit dissappointing, because FP is a lot of fun, but once you “get it”, it kinda feels like a lot of the challenge you feel early on is gone.

Ive recently stumbled on Fediseer, where instances can give recommendations, censures and hesitations to other instances. every instance also has its own page with their self-description, stats, recommendations, censures, etc. might be a helpful tool to narrow down the potential instances.
