Exactly what I was thinking. I live in a smaller medium sized metro in the US Midwest and finding any restaurant where two of us can get a decent full meal with a cocktail/beer for each of us for under $40 is rare.

Oh, 100%. I’m mostly a server admin these days, I don’t do much software dev stuff anymore. As such, it’s mostly powershell or python scripts. Using a dedicated IDE for fairly small scripts isn’t really needed .

That’s a great way of putting it and definitely something I was guilty of doing when this stuff first emerged and I was experimenting with it.

Nowadays, I only use our internal LLM to generate boilerplate or simple scripts that wouldn’t take me more than 5-10 minutes to write myself to save some tedium. I think that’s what most actual devs/admins do with it nowadays, if they interface with the tech at all.

Yeah, banning by IP from such a big website is pretty silly on the site admin’s part. Tons and tons of places share 1 to a small handful of IPs (e.g. apartment complexes, school dorms, etc).

A hotel in Augusta, Georgia. I had to come into town for a 2 week training event for my job. Unfortunately, it was occurring at the same time as the Master’s tournament, so finding a hotel was virtually impossible. The one my work booked for me was easily in the top 3 grossest accommodations I’ve ever had, and I’ve deployed to combat zones in the Army.
