Just noticed I used “strongly” three times in the post. Gonna need to find new adverbs.

I think this is a very valid question. Sometimes the grass really is greener on the other side.
I like it here in Germany. Laws and social safety are relatively strong. Oftentimes I see an article about some chemical common in food being a cancer risk, and then I research it and see that it is a US-centered article and that the EU already banned the chemical years ago.
Right wing populism is strongly on the rise here though. Racism and LGBTQ-phobia will strongly depend, with smaller villages and regions in East Germany being worse on average.
If you’re a top earner, you most likely won’t get the crazy high salaries here that you might expect from the US (even if accounted for cost of living, childcare etc).
Bureaucracy is annoying.
Rent can be very high depending on the region.
Job market strongly favors German speakers. I heard the Netherlands are more open in that regard. I think this will be your biggest hurdle.

Sorry you have to go through that. Try not to let it get to you, but retain the ability to recognize constructive criticism.
How is national socialism a mask for capitalism?
I love the concept of this book but was pretty disappointed by the actual recipes tbh.
Yeah, tofu by itself can be very boring, but it really shines with the right spices or marinade. The simplest way to make tofu that still tastes great is to cut it up, put the pieces in a container with a tablespoon of soy sauce and some Sriracha (amount depending on your chili tolerance), and shake the container. Then you can use it in many ways, for example by placing it on something that is releasing a lot of steam, like rice that is almost done cooking.
Even NDS games should be pretty playable on a phone. Give Heart Gold/Soul Silver a try if you’ve missed it, they’re the best Pokémon games.
The very fact that they’re able to do all of this is also an effect of the mitochondria in their cells. But if people tell me to stop talking about mitochondria 24/7, then I should just find a group of other mitochondria enthusiasts to interact with instead of ranting about how I’m ““right”” to make everything about mitochondria.
who remakes the exact same meme immediately after it was just posted? I thought this place was supposed to be better than Reddit.
One of my favorite games of the last years, and also fun to watch someone else play.
Totally relate to that. I love discovering new things and reading many different people’s thoughts on a topic, but every platform based around scrolling on a feed is too addictive to me. If I use them too much I can already start to feel some cognitive abilities decline after a few days. The slow pace of lemmy is really nice.

For me there is often a problem that causes to not be able to sleep, and I’ll try to solve that. Like being hungry, thirsty, radiator too warm, radiator not warm enough, I have some energy I need to get out, need to close the window, need to open the window. If nothing helps I get out of bed for a while and this makes me more tired after some time. I try to avoid scrolling because it just makes the time fly by without changing the circumstances or making me sleepy.
