Where did you get that? I said I wouldn’t work for a Russian company or one that does business with Russia. I very much hope the Russian people will rise up and rid themselves of that rotten orc at the head of your state and then I’d gladly change my stance. For me there are a few no gos:

• working for a weapons manufacturer
• working for a company that does business with saudi arabia, north korea, russia, and similar authoritarian states/dictatorships
• working for any FANG company (and obviously any company owned by elmo)
• working for car manufacturers
• I try to avoid buying products produced in the US, China, and Israel as much as possible
• I also try to avoid any company that hosts its stuff on AWS, but that’s quite challenging, if you even know in the first place

Irrespective of that, you raise an interesting point “it’s about the impact AI has on the world”. I’d argue it’s real impact is quite limited (mind you I’m referring to generative AI and specifically LLMs rather than AI generally), it has a few useful applucations, but the emphasis here is on few. However, it’s being pushed by all the big tech companies and those lobbying for them as the next big thing. That’s what’s really leading to the “impact” you’re perceiving.

This means absolutely nothing. It scanned a large amount of text and found something. Great, that’s exactly what it’s supposed to do. Doesn’t mean it’s smart or getting smarter.

I think something like Twitter hinges on people/organisations being there that are popular for whatever reason. Many people engage with those people’s posts and react to each other. Since there aren’t many such people on Mastodon, there isn’t as much activity.

I recommend void. It’s rock solid, “stable rolling release”, no systemd, amazing package manager. The installation is a bit more “advanced”, but I guess coming from Arch that should not be a problem for you.
