And it’ll stay that way until people use, and keep using, this space. So, to use an overused phrase, be the change you want to see :)

Come on its obvious! Sedan - see Dan. Staring at a man called Dan.
Also ‘red’ has 3 letters, just like ‘gay’.
I pay Bitwarden the tenner a year as I have no reason to distrust them and they’re definitely providing a more reliable, securer service than I can self-host.
I also do an encrypted export once per week and store that export to an encrypted cloud based service and an encrypted USB stick. Takes 2 minutes.
Bandcamp is still OK for me and I listen to some fairly obscure stuff.
Just to offer a heads up - there’s a new solution/site which is currently in Beta but is backed by good people (musicians). It needs an influx of music diversity (lots of metal at the moment) but if it gets that when it comes out of beta then it could very well be a good Bandcamp replacament - Ampwall
We do tell people. For example, when you get off the train at Reading station it clearly says “Welcome to Reading”.
Vorta for Borg Backup - for linux and MacOS. You use it remotely but I use it for local backup because a) its encrypted b) its Borg so awesome and c) easy to use. I just pointed it at my home directory, told it where to place the encrypted backups and how often to make them.
I’ve had to recover files twice and recovery is just as easy as set up.
Not yet, but they’re certainly in our thinking for next year :)
This is great news :) but without wanting to be spammy the org I am a member of !globalorderofsatan@lemmy.blahaj.zone have been running a very similar campaign but for non-mainstream music e.g. metal/punk/indie/alt/industrial/goth that we call “Satan Not Hatin’”
It currently has over 140 opt-in participants of bands, individual artists, venues, festivals, record labels and other orgs from all over the world, including the UK and has been so successful that a well known (within metal circles) documentarian and music video director is currently making a Documentary about the campaign. You can visit the campaign website where we list all the participants and provide more detail - there’s also a link to a YouTube playlist of all the participating bands which also works fine in Invidious!
I have contacted the Graun about Satan Not Hatin’ but mainstream news has little love for alternative music so we’ll carry on with our DIY approach!
Looks like yunohost with a nicer interface but less apps and less config options.
I understand that, but surely the Admin who took the action isn’t in a different timezone form themselves? What was stopping them immediately posting just before or just after taking the action?
Whilst I completely understand why you, as private individuals with limited income and not a huge org that has high priced legal teams on call, have made this decision (I think people forget that it costs money just to defend yourself in court, irrespective of how accurate or legal the charges might be), this is about the 3rd or 4th time that the Admin team have communicated and taken action very, very poorly.
It’s really not a difficult thing to do. A post such as this either before or immediately after taking such important actions. I realise you’re all busy people with real life stuff to do too but surely you tell new Admin’s when they’re onboarded that momentous decisions that affect a lot of people must be communicated to the members immediately?
Surely you mean

…

…

I realise that as individuals without the huge resources of a business your options are limited. I also have a lot of sympathy with the admins and mods being exposed to that shit. I don’t know what the answer is but I don’t think blanket silencing all users who care about their privacy is a solution.
Surely the fact some audience members are ethnically and/or religiously Jewish is irrelevant. According to the article, they weren’t targeted because of their ethnicity or religion but because they refused to support the idea of a ceasefire.
In my own personal experience, Nextcloud;
Calibre on local machine, sharing a database with self-hosted calibre-web, OPDS enabled using a Kobo to read.
I think that’s good but protecting religion is questionable to me. I’m not saying its OK to attack people based on their religion but religion isn’t a property of a person in the way their ethnicity or sexuality is, it’s merely an opinion someone holds. If your wording is adopted, it’d be nice to see the difference between attacking who someone is and an opinion someone holds made clear.
Also needs to reference (dis)ability IMO.
It’s not clear what you’re saying? Are you saying transphobes are misogynists?
What I’d really like is LibreWolf level privacy protection whilst the browser is running but that allows me to retain cache, history etc but also encrypts everything locally when the browser is closed and is password protected and only decrypts everything when the password is entered.
