no joke it’s how I learned linux, bootstrapping a gentoo install from the toolchain on up, with a printed manual. it’s surprisingly effective, if time-consuming (took me about 2 weeks to get to a booted system, though most of that was compilation time - took ages back then).

the US controls the international money supply. the loopholes employed by those companies are very easily closed as is the ability of companies headquartered outside the US to operate within its borders. companies will fall in line. and any support granted by other countries are easily neutered by shocking the money supply.

the distinction is because those red states have extensive efforts underway to go after queer people and this bill enables them to do so online.

this doesn’t require them to do anything, it just gives them new powers.

idk about this. there’s a new wave of transphobia that’s spread as far as progressive dem circles (cf the Young Turks) and the right has gotten so rabid about it that they’re conducting a genocide across much of the country. I’m not using that term lightly - the goal of this slate of legislation is to remove trans people’s ability to exist in public spaces and to kill us by outlawing access to lifesaving medical care.
