lh i forgot hades 2 came out this year. none of the others appeal much to me. i just tend to like the genres that are hard to do on smaller budget. story driven rpgs and action adventure games that aren’t souls like. not platformers, not craft survival, not extraction shooters, not bullet hell. there’s plenty of indie games i can enjoy, but few that i love. and sometimes it’s annoying when indie game fans just assume it’s because I’m ignorant that i don’t live their favorite games.

“a fantastic year for new games”? i couldn’t disagree more. i had no interest in any games that came out this year. i got balatro, and it’s kind of fun, but in a mildly addictive mobile game kind of way. not a “this is a really well made game” kind of way.

to me this was a year of greedy disappointments and corporate bullshit in gaming. this article mentions score inflation being a thing they’re weary of, then unironically puts the latest destiny dlc above 90%. pcgamer is absolutely part of the corporate megastructure that is bad for games and for for profits.

i mean, this is also a handled. if we look at the way they name their handhelds then switch 2 may not be it, but switch extra or switch (new feature here) would be very in line with their names. Nintendo ds, ds lite, 3ds, others? Gameboy, Gameboy color, Gameboy advance, Gameboy advance sp - particularly egregious.

i will never get over them fighting with the community about whether the game had multi player when it clearly provably didn’t.

when this game was announced i literally laughed at how badly overpromised it was. that generation of console would never have never been capable of what they wanted. i told all my friends not to buy it because it obviously couldn’t possibly deliver on even half of its claims. they literally just promised everything you could ever want in a space exploration game. the other games that had tried to do that with more resources, more time, and that required better hardware couldn’t even come close to a quarter of what they promised.

they had to know they were over promising. i simply can’t ever trust them after all of that. also, i don’t often like randomly procedurally generated environments in an exploration game. they just get boring fast without someone crafting an exploration experience with goals and points of interest.

you may not know which one is next, but this one is clearly there.

i couldn’t remember if there was active pvp. i just remember never actually running into it in my time playing.

the base invasion system in metal gear solid 5. it was a risky optional side part, but you would place your best guys and equipment around your base and other players could try to break through that. i don’t remember many of the specifics, but it was kind of interesting.

oh it’s very true! generally when a bullet enters the body the damage it does spreads out like a cone from entrance to exit as more displaced material is accelerated and the shockwave travels outward. that’s why the exit wound is generally many times larger than the entrance wound. a large enough round at a high enough velocity will start taking chunks out of people. that’s why many were concerned the m16 wouldn’t have enough stopping power when it was first being brought to the battlefield, it used a smaller round than the ak-47. it’s not about the size of the bullet, it’s about the amount of energy it can impart into the target. a heavier, wider round will create a much larger wound channel. the difference in damage done is much greater than the difference in the size of the bullet.

there are also a variety of specific types of bullets that can affect the wound created and the damage done internally. for example, in smaller, slower rounds that might struggle to create this expanding wound channel effect, they might use hollow point bullets. bullets that are made to expand and/or break apart after impact. creating a larger wound and transferring the energy of the round into the target’s organs better.

generally, you can expect that anyone using guns designed to kill humans to be able to damage an area at least 4 times the size of the bullet with every shot. often more, sometimes less. so when you think about getting shot and whether it will hit your internal organs imagine the bullets are more like softballs. because that’s the size of the exit wound they’ll create. that is why i say it’s generally unlikely that you won’t fall when shot with intent to kill. i do specifically man using a weapon of war, not a .22 backpack rifle. honestly, people get shot with small caliber handguns often enough. they probably usually don’t need to fall over. might feel like it though. i know i tend to sit down when I’m hurt badly enough.

hmmm, like they don’t do a Hollywood fall, but they do often just drop. sack of potatoes style. there’s a lot of stuff in you that could make you stop standing if it got shot. it’s not guaranteed, but depending on caliber, it can be quite likely that they will fall. just straight down or in the direction of their existing momentum usually.

from the op description they are in fact a very complicated seamless bifocal. likely some of the most expensive lenses to make. idk, to a certain extent op is looking for a modern luxury item and mad that it’s expensive. like they don’t NEED seamless bifocals, it’s just Better for their condition. they could spend less on thicker cheaper bifocals, they just wouldn’t be as nice.

like it sucks that most glasses are uncomfortable for them, but sadly this has simply resulted in them needing expensive glasses if they get this spec. it’s kind of like someone saying they need a car that’s fast, fuel efficient, rides great, looks cool, is safe, and has lots of storage but are confused why they can’t find a good deal on that.
