Basically because every time this happens the burden of debt is passed towards the tax payers. They just built a long toll lane in my city in what was a 2 lane highway. Adding another lane or two would have alleviated traffic immensely. The company that built it owns all profits for approx 50 years. What could have been a 5 lane highway is still two except now you have the option of paying a ridiculous amount of money to not have to deal with the traffic. This is money that could have been spent on improving the city’s other methods of transportation, trains, bicycles, etc.

It doesn’t affect me personally. I ride a motorcycle every day. It’s just painful to see how private interests are almost never in line with what’s best for constituents

Yup. The corruption is blatant, and the worst part is, they don’t even hide it… the threat of impending doom keeps the voters subservient. Instead of pointing out the corruption, we equivocate. I’m not a nihilist or a pessimist and most certainly do not want Trump to win. But refusing to acknowledge the blatant corruption puts us right where we started.

What’s mind boggling about it? Bernie Sanders wasn’t a prophet. He ran on a platform and we believed in his candidacy. Just because he bent over for Hillary doesn’t mean that suddenly now she’s a great candidate. If he had to bite down on the rag, I don’t fault him for that. But asking people to get on board “just this once” every election is just a carrot on the stick. It’s always “but this one is SUPER important, set yourself aside and pick the lesser evil, eventually we can get what we want.” There is no “eventually” and there never will be as long as you and others like you show that you’re willing to throw your ideals away because of this season’s boogieman

You’re missing a lot of context. You’re examining the contents of the effect, without looking at the cause.

The DNC rigged the primaries before any ballots were cast. They conspired against Bernie Sanders to have Hillary as the nominee and worked to sabotage Bernie’s run for presidency. Talking about exit poll statistics doesn’t really mean much. The corruption was already well underway.

You know there’s elections before the primaries right? The Democratic party has shown that it will resort to all means of corruption to give you the “establishment” candidate. And people like you keep voting for the lesser of two evils. Let the Democrats lose more elections they shouldn’t lose, eventually they learn they need to uphold the values of democracy to win an election.

If the Democratic party wasn’t corrupt to the core, it would have been Bernie. After that it would have been Andrew Yang. You keep voting these Republicans in Democrat clothing, nothing ever gets solved. Every democrat in history since I was born has promised to do something about immigration, nothing ever gets done. I came across this early in my career in networking. I ended up having to support another technicians customer(we primarily managed our own workloads) and he did not use the tools(vault) we had to manage the network equipment credentials, so I always had to call him and ask him what the password is and why he doesn’t update it in the vault(it frequently changed) … After bothering him enough about it he said it was job security.

This was a 45k entry level job that he was years into. Why someone would want job security at the bottom part of the totem pole is beyond me, but that is where I mostly came across tribalistic tendencies(I worked in a lot of small/medium sized companies before getting a big break)

If I look up those people on LinkedIn, they’re exactly where they were or in another lateral position. They don’t tend to make it very far.

Usually yes but not lately because I’ve been having to work most weekends. I haven’t had a weekend off in a few months. Just finished working a few hours ago actually. But I’m blessed to be in a well paying job and im getting great experience. Gotta make hay while the sun is shining.

They can be pretty common for certain people. I’ve dealt with hemorrhoids since I was 20, my dad also started getting them pretty young too. They tend to “flare up” if you eat food that irritates them. For me it’s something that I deal with every few months or so. When I get them, I gotta squirt a tube of ointment up my ass and they’re usually gone the next day. It’s a very humbling experience. I came as a poor migrant, no college education and through will and determination I became a self taught engineer about to turn 30 who makes six figures, and I occasionally have to squirt a tube of preparation H ointment up my ass.

True, I’ve seen ads that are like “if you can make it to level 5 you’re a certified genius” or something like that. It’s really sad.

One of the more interesting things about how these games are advertised (I don’t play mobile games but I suspect a lot of people that do are kids) are that it always shows someone playing the game poorly. It’s supposed to make you go “huh. Well that looks easy. Wait wth is he doing? No! He could have gotten the powerup. Oh! Looks like he might get this one! What?! How do you mess that up?! I bet I could do that.”

One thing that I’ve realized about this generation of kids and people who didn’t grow up on tech but were forcibly introduced to it(millennials, gen x, boomers) is that they don’t want the game to be challenging or to reward skill. They just need the game to be flashy and to pass the time. That’s why these games are always made to look so easy and like the guy playing is a moron. A lot of people are attracted to games in a different way than “gamers” … They are not attracted to the challenge or the mastery, they’ve attracted to the visuals and lack of difficulty.

I believe these types of games are akin to gambling. The last time I went to Dave and Busters, you wouldnt believe the amount of adults i saw playing games of chance (not skill) for tickets. Exactly like a casino.

My only problem with it is that it’s always on the homepage under recommended, despite the fact I’ve never watched any streams like that. Even if I tell the site “not interested” it still shows the content. I only get on twitch to watch content for one game and from a small number of creators.

You quoted half of the sentence. I think there’s enough substance on there to consider that an informed opinion.

I have been a network engineer with no degree for many years, but I did have a lot of certs. It’d be nice if there were something similar for programming. But I’ve never seen anyone care that much about the engineer title. I’ve always thought it’s someone who understands his craft/engine design in and out, but doesn’t design it himself. The architect designs it. The tech can perform documented solutions

IANAL but i’m pretty sure that even without an NDA anything you develop on the job is considered IP of the company. However, as long as it’s not a blatant copy paste(a rewrite), it’s hard to legally enforce that because they have to prove damages. Meaning that if they shelfed the idea/program, even if it’s a blatant copy paste they can’t do anything.

I don’t get a chance to compliment people that often, but I do try to genuinely listen to people.
