I just wanna be able to easily hack my car tbh. (Lmao “i” dont even have or want one) I want there to be car nerds like with combustion cars but for electric ones. While for normal consumers that might not be important, it is very important for the people that you hire to repair it for you. Right to repair is specifically important for repair shops. Documentation would be cool, but lets start by not putting DRM into cars to actively prevent repair.
Also CalyxOS on FP4 is great, very easy to install and no issues so far.
The ones from smaller company can be, from what i have been told. Its kinda like with knockoff electronics products where you can get a carbon copy or better version of an arduino for a fraction of the price. You might have to look, but they exist. Here they just dont at all. With phones its pretty bad sadly but with other things you can often get dope open hardware manufactured designs of all sorts of stuff.
Its muuch easier to start an EV company than a combustion one tho. Also modding of old cars into EVs is a thing. It will happen but not as extreme as with combustion ones i think. Especially because chinese ones tend to be less enshittified.
How long has it been since you used element/matrix? Serious question because the new element call stack is now finally released in element stable, as of a few patches ago. (It still only shows up as the “video rooms” feature that u have to enable in the labs/beta settings)
Its much cleaner than before and properly supports screensharing, adjusting individual user volumes and more. The previous jitsi based voice rooms were somewhat lacking i admit but they have been functional for years.
That was the last thing that kind of kept me from fully endorsing matrix but now it does all that really important stuff. The new mobile ElementX client also supports the new call system but its overall lacking compared to the normal mobile client which does not support it.
But for desktop use i dont have any complains anymore about matrix really.
It was there before i think but maybe they dont mind seeing it again
Its a rack mounted rack without the server.
There are plent of cheap chinese phones supported by lineage os tho.
If you execute random, non media file formats that u got from a torrent then thats on you.
Have you tried 535 yet? I would do that before trying to experiment with other installation pathways.
lemmy is my first and only social account (unless you consider software forums or gitlab lol)
Matrix too but not using that in a social media way, only as a direct messenger.
Not without cracking it open to swap the battery.
Thats a good point tbh. Nice brain hack
Yeah for anything except some games, wine/lutris or a virtual machine will work wonders. Not having to reboot is much nicer. You can also consider booting windows off a fast usb stick or usb ssd.
hmm okay i dont really know anything about pop_os, but yeah it seems that it doesnt like it if you install stuff outside of its pre selected set of packages. my next GPU will definitely be an AMD one, nvidia is just a mess.
well good luck then i guess 🫤
Have the same gpu and had same issue give me a second to find the solution again.
Now back at PC:
Right so i searched for a while back when i got those issues and the only solution that really worked for me was installing 550 instead. Idk how PopOS / ubuntu does things. So doing this could be easy or super fucking annoying.
depending on the repo you are using for the nvidia driver, you might be able to specify the driver version during install like so:
sudo apt install nvidia-driver-550
I am on debian12 and installing from repo didnt work for me as there were lots of dependencies that had version conflicts. I ended up installing it with the .run file which is really tedious.
Im gonna be honest tho the chance that this will fix your issue is not that high. Nvidia problems are so fucking diverse and could be due to any number of specific system component and package combinations. But if its already broken, might as well try right?
Probably significantly less actually. Because all the encryption and communication protocols are open source and regularily audited, they have become more and more secure. All sides of this conflict have an interest in these systems being secure because everyone indcluding the feds themselves are using them. From looking at actual cases they have to either wait for a zero day to infiltrate a phone remotely or physically compromise it (airport, etc).
Back when every country was developing its own IT systems, it was different, but now everything is globalized. If Russia/Iran/China is suffering from a 0day, chances are the US is suffering from it aswell.
Basically all outdoor images can be automatically geotagged by neural nets developed for this purpose. So you gotta keep it indoor only if you have physical safety concerns.
The more human infrastructure there is, the easier it is to doxx you, but even in the middle of nowhere the neural nets are starting to be very optimized for it. Even the publicly available tools arent too bad and the ones developed for and by the military/feds are probably even better.
Thats the dumbest shit i have heard on here.By that logic going to a protest isnt a political act, which it obviously is.Basically anything that affects or targets a political topic is itself a political act. Donating to a party, posting a meme about a politician, writing an article about climate change, and yes killing the leader of a company while clearly targeting them for their decisions that negatively impacted the public and sparking the biggest public discourse about said industry in decades.
