I have certainly have seen some cheap knockoff retro consoles at Aldi in their random seasonal aisle, but I’ve never seen any of the proper, branded retro remakes like this, the C64, or the NES/SNES/etc consoles.

You definitely see a lot less of them. Some of that was intentional, at least in the US, as the “love bug” problem was supposedly something that we caused and the solution was to spread sterilized bugs that would mingle with the regular bugs and prevent the population booms. No idea how well it worked, it could just be that our overuse of pesticides did the real work.
You probably didn’t know about this as it didn’t get the attention of the NES and such, but here is a remade Amiga PC. https://retrogames.biz/products/thea500-mini/
It was truly wild to meet him briefly at Defcon after years of seeing “FREE KEVIN” and such.
As far as I know, the PS5 had way more exclusives that the equivalent Xbox console. Sony just started releasing PC versions of many of those exclusives a couple of years after release because they like money, which took away their exclusive status. I see this as a good thing as exclusives aren’t good for anyone other than the console maker.
Quod Libet can do all of these things to my knowledge. It is currently my favorite linux music player.
I remember that last part from the announcer and we were all like “you don’t say…”.
That would surely have made us feel better lmao! Still, that’s an interesting fact.
We watched it live in elementary school, most of the kids didn’t get what had happened right away. Our teacher was just standing there stunned until an announcement came on the intercom asking all the teachers to turn it off. They didn’t say anything to us, just tried to pretend like we didn’t just watch people blow up live.
I actually had this happen more than once because of a coworker that uses Copilot and it would help him with code and use functions not in existance. He has since finally stopped trusting Copilot code without more testing.
A 33MHz DX 486was great. If you got stuck with a slower SX CPU, things were frequently not so hot.
I’ve had great luck using Intel NUCs and home servers and HTPC boxes. Since those are now gone, I have found that Beelink is the most cost effective replacement when I needed to revamp the setup. My biggest complaint on them is that the cooling fans on them are not super reliable and it is not easy to find compatible replacements. I had to order them direct from China and there are a few wiring incompatible variants. I ended up with one of them being the wrong type and I had to resolder the leads to match the existing broken fan.
I bought one last year and when I need to replace a TV, I will do it again.
I would never consider that BS, so I forgot about that heh
Your description of flying is still accurate.
I found that I can’t just start and stop reading and get anything out of it in the same way that I can’t just start and stop a game, but that’s good that you can.
While I definitely have less time for things like that, I still find time to play some games usually by giving up a little sleep and playing after the kids are asleep and tons of chores have been done. I can’t imagine that you still don’t need some downtime, you can’t just be “on” all the time without it heavily affecting your mental health. I hope that you have simply found other pursuits that do that for you.
It can be used to send money to people that don’t have a bank account. These people sadly exist, like some of my family. That said, being pressured to send them money by them lying could definitely be considered a scam :)
Fwiw, mine has worked with no issues on any of my Linux PCs.
I believe there is a fork from the last GPLv3 version called SwanStation.
