As someone who works for the NHS this should come as no surprise.

Ever since the pathetic pay rise offered to nurses after all their work during the pandemic there has been nothing but contempt shown towards people who actually work at the coal face of the health system, and by extension the patients who have to use the system which is stretched to breaking point.

As a society we should be asking ourselves why it’s acceptable for public sector workers such as nurses, Doctors, teachers, firefighters etc to be expected to work longer hours (often outside of their contracted hours) for less money than in the private sector.

Junior and senior doctors are leaving the country and both parties have awful “plans” for the future of the NHS.

In a friend’s daughter’s med school class half the students are studying for the US medical exams.

Coming from an NHS doctor, it’s fucked.

We really need an election, but we have stubborn sitting tenants in Downing St, who have no where else to go.

8 months before the election, prepare to see the right wing media gear into action and spread lies about everyone except the Tories, and the 20 point leaf labour had will likely disappear, and I would be surprised if the Tories get back in again.

However, rishi sunak seems to be a candidate that even the Tories hate, perhaps because he’s not white and richer and more succe6and powerful than the average Tory voter- at least they found something in common with the Clown - an idiot who “you could have a pint with”.

        God, tory voters are pathetic.

I am expecting the lead to dwindle, but not by as much as you would expect because the Tories have used all the bullets up trying to hide from the truth in other areas. So yes, I would agree with you in any other election period except this one. For that media will have an impact, but that impact is lessoned by the lack of trust that the media is viewed with these days. Even Tories know that we are being led up the garden path when it comes to the UK media.

It’s terrifying and enraging that we’ve got to this point. Solidarity with every striker.

With the Tories in power for so long, it’s no wonder, though labour’s plans appear to be not well thought out.

Let’s just hope people don’t vote for these leeches again. I despair.

Although as you say, I’m not confident that things are going to get better under Labour - from what I understand they’re just planning to tax higher earners more in order to increase placements for students, but surely two of the biggest factors causing problems right now are poor pay and having to fund your own medical education? Taking away free medical tuition was one of the stupidest moves ever made.

If medical students don’t even believe in the NHS then that’s really sad to hear. I can’t see it surviving in it’s current form.
