Sweet! We got into camping this year, and camping in cornwall is definitely on our list for next year. We usually stay in a static caravan at a site on the south coast, but we’ll probably camp at the same site as it’ll be way cheaper. What sort of tent do you have?

We have an old school 1970s canvas frame tent which does well in the rain as long as it has time to dry out afterwards.

Because it’s canvas, it’s designed to absorb the water using capillary action and retain it. If it gets completely saturated it’ll drip but basically required no maintenance other than giving it a good airing once a year and making sure it doesn’t get packed away wet as it’ll rot.

The poles are steel tubes so strong as anything and will stand up in a full gale.

Just don’t touch the outer sheet if it’s wet as the water will wick up your finger and soak you in seconds.

It’ll usually depend on when you head down. June - August you can usually get away with something a bit lighter, but there’s a lot more rain coming in once you get into September. (Yesterday morning had some torrents coming in)
