    Realistically it’d be swapping one racket for another. Back in BR days it wasn’t unheard of for a depot to send an empty train out to a siding to wait several hours and come back just to give 3 extra union men a full shift.

    I hope that as the integration of the now nationalised rail companies continues, this shit gets cut out. It’ll probably be a matter of waiting for contracts to expire, though.
