I only found out it happened cos of this article
Edit: turns out it’s today. I’m leaving this post up so that I never forget my shame
- Hopefully you didn’t, because it’s supposed to go off at 3pm today (Sunday) - Haha that’ll be why then! Thanks mate - How was it - Noisy
- Loud and surprising. I wasn’t expecting it. - [Edit] It was like someone set off a tiny fire alarm in my pocket. - Yep. Also also it did not (at least on my tablet) have a silence button. Just OK. Where it disappeared - So in a real emergency situation. Most will be in situs where they want to shut the f?;?king noise off. And not have the ability to read it.

- Wait I thought it was supposed to be in a couple of hours - 3 in Manchester, no alert yet - Edit: yes it’s in the first paragraph lol, 3pm today
- It’s today at 3PM
- The 7th of September is today, isn’t it?
- Turned them off, so no. - Given we don’t see much in the way of existential threats here, I figure that anything genuinely big enough to warrant one is something I’d rather not see coming. - Or a test. Or a fault. Or a nothingburger. - Except it has had good use cases. Like Storm Éowyn, which suddenly upgraded in severity with less than 24 hours notice. I genuinely believe the alert saved lives.

- Yes. Or Nope I also did not get one. O2 in south Oxfordshire. - I knew it was due around that time but forgot the exact day. A friend reminded me at the end of the day. - You didn’t get one as it’s supposed to happen today. - Thanks for the info. I did note other comments but thanks anyway.
