“I hate (let’s say, the color blue) because my toxic ex likes it and therefore because they’re a bad person, everyone who likes blue is a bad person and should die!”
negative association
it’s not so much a way of thinking as a way of feeling
reductio ad Hitlerum is analogous.
or oculus reparo.
Guilt by association?
Alls I know is the same type of thing bothered my ex and everyone who is bothered by it is a bad person and should die! /s
Prejudice, no? Not one of the classic examples, granted, but it’s the same logic as them.
Hitler liked dogs… Dog lovers should all die!!!
That’s an argument ad hominem. That bad person endorses this thing, therefore that thing must be bad.
“Ad Hominem” just means you are insulting the person rather than addressing their argument. Like, calling someone stupid, instead of explaining why what they’re saying is stupid.
